Recipient of the "Connecting Civil Societies of Asia and Europe 4 (Belgium, Oct 2010)" project.
 Currently a professor in the University of Rizal System Angono, in 2008 Maria was invited to be a delegate for Japan Foundation’s JENESYS EXCHANGE PROGRAMME on “Urban Community Development Inspired by Culture: The Potential of Creative Cities.”
Being involved in the artist community of Angono, Rizal, Philippine s, the study tour in Japan triggered her interest in studying the readiness status of the people of Angono — coined as the Artist Capital of the Philippines — to become a creative city. Thus, in March of 2010, she finished her research entitled “The Psycho - socio - cultural Characteristics and The Readiness Status of the People of Angono: Input to a Development Model for a Creative City.” In June of 2010 she started to work for the University of Rizal System — Angono. This is her first step to introduce the concept of creative city to the fresh minds of younger artists and gather support from more creative people in the town and its local government.
